You read about the problem with Julian Assange here first — back in July. Last night Wired featured a story about the current resignations of key staff members of Wikileaks. It’s really tragic— the concept behind Wikileaks is sound and good. But as I said in my first post on the subject: you cannot pair open access to information and ego. This:
“I am the heart and soul of this organization, its founder, philosopher, spokesperson, original coder, organizer, financier and all the rest. If you have a problem with me, piss off.”
only allows Wikileaks' detractors more ammunition for its eventual demise. Which is why people and personality are best left out of the “public face” of wikileaks altogether. Systems wise, a little bit of git, a little bit of Tor, and you’d be done. Of course, if there were a proper github for data, it’d be done already.
